Detroit has a very active CISV chapter.
We are truly blessed in that way! If you are new to CISV, here
are some questions you might want answers to:
Why CISV and not another program for kids?
CISV is completely volunteer and family
driven. If your child is chosen for one of our programs he/she
will not be traveling on a bus, she/he will be taken care of by a
loving family from somewhere around the world! Each family is
screened and has made a commitment to CISV. That might mean
their time, that might mean food, that might mean transportation.
It will differ by chapter and by the needs of the program.
Where do our kids go?
Every year our chapter has the opportunity
to select age-appropriate programs. Please check the program
site for this year's selections.
Where do the kids stay?
Every site is different. We have
children housed in colleges, camps, elementary schools...it depends.
Each chapter, around the world, applies to host a program.
They might apply for Village, Seminar, Summer Camp, etc. In
each case, the chapter files an official application which outlines
their plans for the program. This includes who will be in
charge, what resources are available, etc. Each application is
reviewed by the respective national office and approved or modified
as necessary.
Here is an example of one of our villages!
